Term 1, 2021
Happy New Year! We have warmly welcomed all those returning to St Brendan’s and have extended an extra warm welcome to our new students, their families and our new colleagues. We have had a very positive start to the new school year.
There are many things that are unique and special about our school. We are the only St Brendan’s in New Zealand and we are the only school founded by the Missionary Sisters of the Society of Mary, the SMSMs. This term we look forward to celebrating several significant events. St Brendan’s School was opened in February 1961 making 2021 the 60th anniversary for our school. And, in 1951, Fr Bert Heavey was appointed the first Parish Priest of the area making 2021 the 70th anniversary of the establishment of a Parish in this area.
We also acknowledge that in September of 1960 the present day Our Lady of Grace Church was officially opened, making 2020 the 60th anniversary. Due to the impact of COVID this anniversary was not able to be celebrated in 2020.
We hope you may be able to join us at one or more of the planned celebrations.
Thank you for your ongoing support. It is in working in partnership with you that we continue to ‘sail to success’.
